SENSES
Print Zine Project
The project “SENSES” got inspiration from the theme of “Sense of human” or human receiving sensory to environment. Basically, senses that we have will consist of sight, sound, smell, taste and touch which are all being the feeling perception and intangible. Hence, to present these senses into the visual form, the creator uses the body organs which directly respond through all of these senses instead. For example, eyes represent sight, ears represent sound, nose represent smell, lips with tongue represent taste, and hands and feet represent touch.
Challenge
The project “SENSES” is the project in which the professor will random the context pages from the textbook to each individual. The challenging part of this project is the designing part, so the creator needs to arrange the text contents into the form of “Zine” design size A3. The hardest part of designing zine format is the way that the design composition needs to be worked out whether when it is outstretched in A3 and when it folds into A5 size. Moreover, the creator needs to be controlled to make the theme align all over the pages and match with the context.
Solution
Hence, zine requires the design that works out in both when it is outstretched and folded to small size. So, when the creator designs, the creator will design along the whole page not working separately into small pieces of artboard. With this kind of techniques it will allow the creator to see the big picture of the work and also more easily control the composition, margin and so on. About the theme, the creator controls the theme by using the elements in the composition that connect pages to pages. Therefore, even outstretching or folding the zine, the design elements will consistently connect to each page.

Fonts Used
To create the sense of creativity, the creator uses the different styles of typography in order to make it fit with the theme and context. The main typography will use the decorative serif font, “Buljira” font which comes with high contrast stroke and curvy style that can represent the reality and characteristic of humans. For the names of the authors using the script or handwritten fonts include “Destiny Signature, High Spirited and Breattogis”. Last but not least, for the body context, the creator will use a display serif font which is not too decorate and more legible than main typography like “Cheva Display” font. All of the typography will arrange in the different compositions and play with the sizing along with the spacing.
Production Details
The production details of this project begin by thinking about the theme for the zine, which finally comes with the theme of “5 Senses of human”. Then, gathering the visual elements that will be used along the page also try out the composition and variety of effects. After that, the creator grouping and arranging each context that will be aligned in separate pages. To separate pages the creator uses the ruler function in Adobe Illustration to divide the whole page into small pages and create the margin. Last but not least, after getting every element and the order of context, the creator works all of these together at the same time in the big picture and tries to create the hierarchy in order to make more dimension.
