SKINIT
Integrated Branding Project
The inspiration of this project started from the idea that the creator was born in Northern part of Thailand which is Chiang Mai province. Exactly that if people talking about this province, the “crispy pork rinds” will be one of the popular food that coming in their mind no matter they will be traveler or the local people in here. Apart from being the souvenir for domestic travelers, local people here always consuming the crispy pork rinds in everyday life and the opportunity that the creator seen is the way that the package of this product will always being the same in traditional way even the time pass, this product will come in the form of clear plastic package with the little logo in front.
Hence, the creator has an idea to develop the whole details of this product through a brand identity project, starting from the brand concept, manufacturing details along with cover in depth of the design parts. Last but not least, the creator’s initiation with this project is to develop and add the values to the local product, and make them more worldwide not just only being the domestic souvenir.
Challenge
SKINIT was the brand that the creator aimed to develop the outer appearance of the packaging that contains the main food or snack which originates in the Northern part of Thailand which is called “crispy pork rinds”. The challenge of this project is to remake the whole packaging from the traditional style to new ways that look more unique and modern which no one touched in this part before. Moreover, the other intention is to make this Thai product become more international but still need to keep the sense and traditional method of making the Thai crispy pork rinds.
Solution
In this era while our world was developed step by step, many brands aimed to develop more of their products packaging and this is why we all saw more modernized packaging in the market. However, traditional products like Thai crispy pork rinds still use the same way of packaging design as in the past. Therefore, SKINIT wants to be the first brand that elevates this Thai product to reach international level instead of just being for domestic.
The package design was not only appropriate for traveling but also can reuse to contain any stuff after over with the product inside. Moreover, this package is also designed for ready to go snacks which are more suitable and convenient for people who are carrying to consume for appetizers.
Target Audience
The foreigner and traveler (domestic and international)
Fonts Used
The creator used the sans serif font that looks really modernized and having high stroke contrast to fit with the image of the SKINIT brand which is “Alokary” font.
Alokary was the font that came with the English version only. Hence, the Thai version of this font in this project was created by the creator in order to keep unity and consistency along with the visual connection between text in two languages.
Software Used
Adobe Illustrator & Adobe Photoshop
Skills Used
Analytical and communication skills, Adobe’s creative apps, Layout design, Design skills, Sketching and drawing, Typography, Creative thinking, Time management and so on.
Production Details
The production details of this project begin by exploring the real product details which are the “crispy pork rinds”, in order to see the appearance, the main characteristic of the product, or even manufacturing details. Then, the creator used them to generate ideas for corporate identity starting from the logo design. After finalized the logo, exactly that will lead to key graphics elements too and all of them will be applied to be used in every detail part of this brand identity project.
